What is Low Testosterone ? The main sex hormone in males, testosterone, is in charge of developing many of the physical traits that are associated with being a man, including a deep voice, thicker hair, higher bone density, and many others. In response to stimulation from the pituitary gland, which is situated close to the base of the brain and sends signals to a male's testicles that arouse feelings of sexual desire, the testicles generate testosterone, a member of the hormone class known as androgens. What Testosterone Levels Are Low? The following tests are used to identify low testosterone: Luteinizing Hormone Amount in Total Testosterone (LH) A pituitary gland issue may be the cause of abnormal levels, which might result in low T. Level of Blood Prolactin High levels may also indicate tumors or issues with the pituitary. Hemoglobin in blood (Hgb) Other possible tests include: Hormone that Stimulates Follicles (FSH) The ability to produce sperm may be tested. Test for Estradiol Hormone If the patient has swollen breasts, this procedure is done. Blood Test for Glycosylated Hemoglobin (HgbA1C) This test measures the amount of hemoglobin bound to glucose in order to detect diabetes. Levels of Thyroid Hormone The evaluation of additional hormonal anomalies can aid in diagnosis. Level of Cortisol This is yet another possible hormonal anomaly.
